The COVID19 Pandemic has delayed some 2020 Census activities, particularly those activities that involved face to face contact and public gatherings. The 2020 Census and its valued partners continue the work of promoting Census Awareness, motivating participation, and actively encouraging and assisting self-response.

We must work within the limitations and guidelines of the state and federal response to the COVID19 outbreak. The BL-NL NAACP provides a crucial link to the Bloomington, Normal, and surrounding communities.

  • The Census Bureau hopes that residents understand that the health and resources needed to fight COVID19 use census data.

  • Census response informs decisions that include the number of people in our area, their ages, and other important information. For our present and future efforts against COVID19, it is vital to be counted.

Virtual Outreach

Partners across Illinois use Internet platforms to conduct meeting, planning sessions, and answer questions from the public.  Virtual outreach is safe and convenient and consistent with the policies favoring stay -at -home and physical distancing. Virtual outreach can reassure residents of the importance of the census, the safety of their information, and the tremendous benefits for them and their communities that rely upon census data.

Partners use Skype, Zoom, and social media platforms to hold meetings and involve residents in the process of getting a complete count. The Census supports partners with information, answers to questions, and updates on the overall process. There are digital versions available for download that Partners can use with online activities. When possible, the Census can provide materials including bags and printed materials.
